As any monster fan I always wanted to create an aquatic creature ( blame HP Lovecraft I guess ) .The concept was inspired bythe work of Steve Wang and his amazing practical FX pieces. The skin, shell aspect and color scheme were based on Mata Turtles and Snapping turtles .

With this project I took the opportunity to learn and implement new techniques for modeling and specially texturing with maps from Surface Mimic which use real scan data from animal skin and the versatility of Mari which allows one channel to be effectively color corrected transformed into different ones.playing perfectly at the same UV space.
